چکیده

Abstract In this study, we have assessed the petrographical and petrophysical characteristics of progradational, syn-rift Middle Miocene Rahmi sandstone gas reservoir (Lower Kareem Formation) from East Matr Amal hydrocarbon fields, southern Gulf Suez by integrating sidewall cores wireline logs. We interpreted a gradient around 0.09 psi/ft downhole pressure measurements. Based on well log-based analyses, that in field has 0.10–0.18 v/v total porosity, 0.08–0.14 effective 0.08–0.17 shale volume along with water saturation ranging between 0.32 v/v. The correlated is observed to higher porosities (0.17–0.22 porosity 0.15–0.19 porosity), although it exhibits (0.38–0.54 v/v). consists very fine coarse grained, poorly moderately sorted, subangular subrounded, cemented compacted sublithic, subarkosic arkosic arenites moderate good intergranular porosity. Abundant lithic fragments poor textural maturity Rahimi sandstones imply high energy shoreface depositional environment close proximity hinterland. Porosity reduction attributed dolomite cementation, kaolinite, formation pseudomatrix mechanical compaction argillaceous lithics, quartz overgrowth. Long concavo-convex contacts indicate silica needed for cementation was derived degree chemical grains. Partial near-complete dissolution labile grains (feldspar lithics) quality improvement. Scattered cements prevented more severe compaction.

Diversity, growth forms and rhodolith distribution: factors controlling the fabric of coralline algae of the early Miocene deposits, Cairo – Suez road, Egypt

The Lower Miocene deposits in Gabal Gharra, Cairo – Suez District, unconformably overlies the Oligocene and Eocene deposits. They consist predominantly of regressive and transgressive mixed siliciclastic / carbonate sediments of shallow marine environments. The Lower Miocene deposits are represented lithostratigraphically by the Gharra Formation that comprises four members, from base to top: Ag...

A Thermal Maturity Analysis of the Effective Cretaceous Petroleum System in the Southern Persian Gulf Basin

Commercial hydrocarbon discoveries in the Cretaceous of the southern Persian Gulf basin provide direct evidence that there is an effective petroleum system associated with the Cretaceous series. The revised models of thermal maturity in this region are needed to investigate lateral and stratigraphic variations of thermal maturity, which have not so far been addressed in detail for this part of ...

Source Rock evaluation, Modelling, Maturation, and Reservoir characterization of the Block 18 oilfields, Sab’atayn Basin, Yemen

A total of 183 core and cutting samples from seven exploratory wells were selected to be analyzed by Rock-Eval pyrolysis. These cores have been drilled through the Lam and Meem Members of the Madbi Formation and contain the major source rocks of Yemen´s sedimentary basins. Contents of total organic carbon were measured and Rock-Eval pyrolysis was performed to evaluate the hydrocarbon potential ...

Middle Miocene Southern Ocean cooling and Antarctic cryosphere expansion.

Magnesium/calcium data from Southern Ocean planktonic foraminifera demonstrate that high-latitude (approximately 55 degrees S) southwest Pacific sea surface temperatures (SSTs) cooled 6 degrees to 7 degrees C during the middle Miocene climate transition (14.2 to 13.8 million years ago). Stepwise surface cooling is paced by eccentricity forcing and precedes Antarctic cryosphere expansion by appr...
